OMF Orchestra: Children and Parents!

Writer's picture: OMFOMF

OMF has started a new project! This NEW project comprises of two interconnected orchestras – the Children's Orchestra and the Parents Orchestra!

Every Saturday at 11am, the amazing Manchester Museum is repurposed as our very own rehearsal venue!

A Symphony in the Making: The Children's Orchestra

Under the skilled guidance of Jess Schaefer, a distinguished player from the BBC Philharmonic, the Children's Orchestra is a vibrant assembly of 20 young talents. These children, from OMF's Learn to Play project, gather weekly to play together. Their repertoire features rhythmic tangos, samba tracks, and festive Christmas music.

The Parents Orchestra

Parallel to their children's musical journey, parents too have been offered a musical outlet in the Parents Orchestra. Guided by the expert Marco Woolf, this group offers a unique opportunity for parents to indulge in their musical interests while their children attend sessions, trying out new instruments like guitar, bass and keys. They're currently working on "Iko Iko" and an original composition.

The Christmas Concert

The culmination of these projects will be at our Christmas concert, on the 13th December at Manchester Museum, where there will be performances from our choirs, and brave soloists as well!
