It’s the start of a new term of music lessons at OMF, and what better way to catch up after the holidays than with a party! Many of our families celebrated Eid at the end of April, so last Wednesday we took this opportunity to join in the celebrations, with a shared meal at our headquarters in Manchester Museum.
We were treated to an incredible performance by classical guitarist Yazan Khwies, who is an Artist Protection Fund Fellow in residence at the University of Manchester’s Department of Music. Yazan’s programme included beautiful arrangements of tangos and traditional tunes, which inspired many of our students to ask about his musical journey and how he came to play the guitar. We then enjoyed a wonderful potluck meal, supplied by our own families in a celebration of many different cultures and backgrounds.
A big thank you to our wonderful families for joining us and sharing many delicious and varied dishes with us, and to Anna Bunney and her team at Manchester Museum for their hospitality and ongoing support!
